Susan Norland
Prof. Norland earned her Ph.D. in German at the University of Virginia and has taught German literature and language at GW since 2004. Her main areas of interest are the 19th Century Novelle, narrative frame theory, and Heinrich von Kleist. Most recently she completed a M.A. at GWU in Instructional Design and Educational Technology, which she puts to good use in her GW classes and when teaching for the International Holiday course at the University of Heidelberg. Having studied at the University of Regensburg in Bavaria, Prof. Norland loves to visit old friends and hike in the mountains around Berchtesgaden. A couple summers ago she hiked to the top of the Watzmann, Germany's third largest, but certainly most beautiful mountain. That she lives to tell the story is a thrilling accomplishment!
